SponsoredBackgrounds.com FAQ

Advertiser FAQ

Q. What is Twitter?
A. Twitter is a micro-blogging platform that has gained global and mainstream acceptance as the standard web based communication medium for sending and receiving real time status updates.

Q. What is SponsoredBackgrounds.com?
A. SponsoredBackgrounds.com allows advertisers to place their advertisements on the Twitter backgrounds of influential publishers' profile pages and inside the publishers' status updates (tweets). Publishers benefit by making money in exchange for these ad campaigns.

Q. Who should register as an Advertiser?
A. If you would like to pay Publishers to promote your background banner, links and marketing message then you should register as an Advertiser. If you have a Good Cause that you would like to let others promote with you then you don't need to deposit funds.

Q. Can I invite certain Publishers to promote my tweets?
A. Yes. Just send them a message with a link to your profile after you deposit funds and select the amount you are willing to pay out.

Q. How do I track my clicks?
A. In the advertiser sign up page, you can add the API key for your Bit.ly account and view the analytics locally by clicking on the "Campaign Tracker" link on the Announce page.

Q. How do I remove publishers from my campaigns?
A. Under the "Campaign Tracker" just check off the publisher you want removed and click "Remove Perm".

Q. How does this compare to other paid tweet services?
A. Sponsored Backgrounds offers many differences, mainly pertaining to performance and improving click through rates for the advertiser. See more details on the "How It Works" page.

Q. What is the minimum cost to start a campaign?
A. $100 and after that you can add in at any increment starting at $10.

Q. What's with the 3 day campaigns?
A. One arbitrary tweet does not a sponsor or successful campaign make. One tweet may only be seen by 5% of the followers, but by running campaigns longer and tweeting more often, you can increase your results exponentially and leverage the powerful branding aspect of SponsoredBackgrounds.com.

Q. Do I know which publishers will be showing my ad?
A. Initially you have limited control over the specific Twitter Publishers you will be placing ads with. You can, however, invite users to your profile for inclusion. After you have run a few campaigns, you will be able to easily dial in which publishers to continue with based on performance. You can then start weeding out any accounts that are not producing.

Q. How much should I offer as my maximum offer?
A. We suggest a minimum of $.03 per follower impression for the max offer. Keep in mind that you will rarely pay this much anyway due to the way we pay publishers based on Twitter Account Performance.

Q. How do I sign up for SponsoredBackgrounds.com?
A. Choose "Advertiser" or "Publisher" after signing in using your Twitter Credentials. We use Twitter OAuth which is safe and secure. Click here to get started.

Q. What is a follower impression?
A. A follower impression is the number of people that are following a specific Publisher.

Q. What size background banner graphic can I upload for my Ads?
A. You can upload any size graphic up to 200 pixels wide by 600 pixels high.

Q. Does Sponsored Backgrounds work with all Twitter backgrounds?
A. Sponsored Backgrounds works with most backgrounds but is not compatible with the tiled setting on Twitter and some Twitter-hosted themes. Background images will be provided, however, for all Sponsored Backgrounds and Tweets (paid advertising).

Q. Do I need to disclose that I am tweeting for pay and who controls the message?
A. We do this for you. Here are the three messages that will be going out on your behalf:

#AD Advertiser Message Advertiser Link
#Sponsor Advertiser Message Advertiser Link
#Advertiser Advertiser Message Advertiser Link

Q. How much money can you make?
A. The sky is the limit. If you have influence then your only limitation is in the number of followers you have.

Q. How often do I get paid?
A. Payment will be released within 5 business days after the each campaign is finished so we can do the proper QC to make sure the tweets and banners were posted for the advertiser.

Q. Can I advertise that I do paid tweets and backgrounds on my own?
A. Yes. We really want to encourage relationship building in the process.

Q. Who determines my price per tweet?
A. The Advertiser is the one that makes all the offers, so you don't need to guess or negotiate. The advertiser usually already knows what they are willing to pay. We require a minimum offer by an advertiser and then send you all the offers to consider. Our suggested offer is above the norm in payouts, but should be much more effective for the advertiser then other paid tweeting services. In a future version, we may let publishers filter out offers based on a minimum amount you would be willing to accept.
